Talked with North Pontotoc coach Brian Sutton yesterday about his 3-1 (surprising?) Vikings. NP is starting a lot of juniors and a lot are learning where to be and what to do when they get there.
“Starting out, we were getting people where we need to be, getting used to new positions. We’ve done fairly well,” Sutton said.
The Vikings ran way more than they threw last Friday.
“Last week we really wanted to establish our run game and get it where it needs to be. If (quarterback Trey Jolly) can run it some, we’ve got some receivers out there that can catch the football. With our spread, we’ve got to be able to run a little bit too,” Sutton said.
NP faces its second straight county rival tomorrow, Pontotoc, in a way a measuring stick Sutton says.
“You like to win early but it’s those late games that move you on,” Sutton said of upcoming Division 2-4A play.
And as Paul Harvey put it, the rest of the story from @brandonspeck.
