Itawamba RB Shumpert cleared to play tonight
Itawamba AHS senior 4-star athlete Ashton Shumpert will be on the field for the first time this season tonight at Senatobia. He was cleared early Thursday morning.
Shumpert has been sidelined through the Indians first three games while recovering from the effects of mono. IAHS is 3-0 and coming off of a bye week. He has yet to take contact this season.
“I’m just ready to play,” Shumpert said, then smiled. “It’s been a while. I’m full speed and ready to play.”
Shumpert added another offer to his list this week with the addition of Southern Miss. The Golden Eagles are the 10th suitor on a list that includesOle Miss, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Purdue, Alabama, Memphis and Alcorn State.
He was in attendance for Mississippi State’s win against Auburn last week and plans to be in Oxford tomorrow for the Rebels’ game against No. 14 Texas.
“I’m anxious to hit,” Shumpert said.
