Shumpert talks Georgia, Ole Miss
Itawamba AHS 4-star athlete Ashton Shumpert celebrated his 236 yards rushing against Corinth Friday with a five-plus hour road trip.
The senior rushed for three touchdowns Friday, then took a visit to Georgia to see the Bulldogs host Tennessee.
“The crowd was awesome. They stayed into it the whole game,” Shumpert said. “Even when Tennessee made a big play, they stayed into it.”
Shumpert has been back on the field for three games and has 590 yards and eight touchdowns on 38 carries. The defensive back also had 16 tackles and an interception.
He plans to visit Ole Miss Saturday for the Texas A&M game.
His current team is 6-0 and got off to a 1-0 division start and is scheduled to host Shannon tonight.
“It’s a big one because we’re both 1-0,” Shumpert said. “It’s a rivalry and they beat them last year too. It’s a big game for a lot of reasons.”
