Was asked this by @bvanderford129 on Twitter this morning. You think Biggersville, Baldwyn, Booneville, or Corinth boys will bring back a gold ball to NE Miss this year?
Since you asked:
I think all four have a very legit shot at a gold ball, but all four also have a couple of teams to worry about in the North before meeting a South team.
Biggersville’s biggest threat is seemingly Blue Mountain, but Ingomar is very underrated and Coldwater can score a lot of points. That said, the Lions wouldn’t meet either of those until the finals Saturday, maybe at Ingomar.
Baldwyn’s biggest North test is Friday if it winds up being Marshall vs. Baldwyn. That will be at Baldwyn. IMO, that’s the 2A title game. On a Friday. At Baldwyn.
Booneville drew a tough matchup tonight vs. visiting McClain. The Blue Devils may then get Mooreville (1-1 this year’s series) on Friday AT Mooreville.
Corinth looks like it has it made with a ticket to Jackson. With that win against Shannon in the 1-4A title game, the Warriors eased into a bracket with a bunch of teams that shouldn’t beat them. Look for Elzy, Amory, Shannon or Houston in the North 4A semis for a chance at Corinth and a prepaid Jackson ticket.
